What We Grow
Asparagus
Asparagus is one of the first signs that spring has arrived on the farm. As the soil warms and the days grow longer, these tender spears emerge, making them one of the very first fresh vegetables of the season.
Harvested daily at just the right stage, our asparagus is crisp, flavorful, and incredibly versatile. Enjoy it grilled, roasted, steamed, or added to salads, pastas, omelets, and stir-fries. Its naturally sweet, earthy flavor shines with just a drizzle of olive oil, a squeeze of lemon, and a sprinkle of salt.
Because asparagus has a short growing season, it's a treat that's only available for a limited time each spring. Be sure to enjoy it while it's here—it won't last long!
Blackberries
Nothing says summer quite like fresh-picked blackberries! Our blackberries are harvested by hand at the peak of ripeness, delivering the perfect balance of sweetness and a touch of tartness in every bite.
They're delicious enjoyed fresh by the handful, sprinkled over yogurt or cereal, baked into pies and cobblers, blended into smoothies, or made into homemade jams and syrups.
Because we grow our berries without routine synthetic sprays, you may occasionally notice a few cosmetic imperfections. These natural blemishes don't affect their flavor—they're simply part of growing produce in harmony with nature.
Blackberry season is one of the sweetest times of the year, but it's also one of the shortest. Enjoy these juicy gems while they're in season!
Sierra Beauty Apples
A true California heirloom, Sierra Beauty apples are a fall favorite with a wonderful balance of sweet and tart. Crisp, juicy, and full of old-fashioned apple flavor, these apples are delicious straight from the tree or used in your favorite recipes.
Sierra Beauties are especially good for baking, making applesauce, or simply slicing up for a snack. Their beautiful red-and-yellow skin and naturally rich flavor make them just as enjoyable to look at as they are to eat.
Grown right here at Foxtail Farm, our apples are harvested when they're ready to be enjoyed—not when they're perfect by supermarket standards. You may notice an occasional blemish or variation in size and shape, but that's part of the charm of naturally grown produce.
A little imperfect, completely delicious, and a wonderful taste of the Sierra foothills!
Strawberries
Sweet, juicy, and bursting with fresh-picked flavor, our strawberries are a little taste of sunshine from the farm! Harvested by hand when they're ripe and ready, they’re deliciously sweet and tender with the unmistakable flavor of a strawberry picked straight from the garden.
Enjoy them fresh by the handful, sliced over shortcake or ice cream, added to salads and smoothies, or turned into homemade jam. Of course, they're also perfectly acceptable to eat straight from the container—we won't tell!
Because we grow our produce with care and without routine sprays, you may occasionally see a few natural blemishes or variations in size and shape. They may not all look perfectly uniform, but they're full of the fresh, honest flavor we love about growing our own food.
Small batch, seasonal, and picked with care—enjoy them while they last!
Pluots
Sweet, juicy, and wonderfully unique, pluots are a delicious cross between a plum and an apricot. They have the smooth skin and rich sweetness of a plum, combined with the fragrant, fruity flavor of an apricot.
Perfect for eating fresh, pluots are also delicious sliced over yogurt or cereal, tossed into salads, baked into desserts, or turned into homemade jam. Their juicy texture and naturally sweet flavor make them an easy favorite for summertime snacking.
Since we grow our produce naturally and don't use routine sprays, you may occasionally find a blemish, spot, or variation in size and shape. These little imperfections don't affect the flavor—they're simply part of growing produce the natural way.
Sweet, juicy, and a little different—give any of our 3 types of pluots a try and you just might discover your new favorite summer treat!
Chojuro Asian Pears
Crisp, juicy, and wonderfully refreshing, Chojuro Asian pears are a delicious variety known for their sweet flavor and distinctive caramel-like notes. Unlike traditional pears, Asian pears are firm and crunchy even when fully ripe, making them perfect for eating fresh right out of the hand.
With their juicy texture and gentle sweetness, Chojuro pears are delicious sliced for snacking, added to salads and cheese boards, or chopped into your favorite recipes. They’re also wonderfully refreshing when chilled.
As with all of our naturally grown produce, you may notice an occasional blemish or variation in size and shape. We don't use routine sprays, so our pears may not always look perfectly uniform—but they're grown with care and packed with flavor.
Crisp, juicy, sweet, and delightfully crunchy—Chojuro Asian pears are a true late-summer treat from Foxtail Farm!
Chicago Hardy Figs
Fresh figs are one of those special treats that make summer at the farm worth waiting for! At Foxtail Farm, we grow two delicious varieties: Chicago Hardy and Peter’s Honey, each with its own unique flavor and personality.
Chicago Hardy figs are known for their deep purple skin and rich, sweet flavor. Their rosy-red interior is soft and jammy, making them absolutely delicious eaten fresh or paired with cheese, nuts, or a drizzle of honey.
Peter’s Honey figs are smaller and beautifully golden-green on the outside, with a luscious amber interior. True to their name, they have an exceptionally sweet, honey-like flavor and a wonderfully soft texture.
Figs are delicate and highly perishable, which means they’re best enjoyed soon after picking. Eat them fresh, slice them over yogurt or oatmeal, add them to a cheese board, or turn them into a delicious homemade preserve.
As with all of our produce, you may notice variations in size, shape, or an occasional blemish. We don't use routine sprays, and we think those little imperfections are simply part of the beauty of naturally grown produce.
Two varieties, two unique flavors, and one very delicious reason to enjoy fig season!
